Why so cheap?
Practitioners with credentials like mine usually charge at least $150 for 50 minutes. However, they typically have state licensure, which I have chosen not to pursue for various reasons beyond the scope of this explanation. If licensure is important to you, then we are not a good fit and you should find a licensed practitioner.
I know coaches with less training than me who charge $1,000/hour! They are typically not licensed, as there is no licensure requirements for the style of support called “coaching”. My training is psychotherapeutic, but I cannot call myself a psychotherapist without licensure, so I call myself a coach.
I am intentionally inexpensive, and intentionally not free. I chose $35/hour intuitively because it achieves a balance between my desire to volunteer my time to people who are suffering and need support, as well as accomodating the empirical fact that people tend to undervalue things they do not have to pay for, and this can make your coaching experience less productive.
There is an energetic exchange inherent in the offering of my time, expertise, and experience and your hard earned dollars. But I acknowledge the cultural and social dimensions of wealth - in short - lots of people in need of mental, somatic, and spiritual support simply cannot afford it. Most insurance companies have lousy compensation for therapists and don’t even cover spiritual directors or most holistic health. And many people don’t even have lousy insurance!
I highly value giving back through volunteering. I could help out at the food bank, or I can offer my healing services, which brings me joy. My toolbox is composed of modalities that have brought me healing and growth. I paid a fortune for the trainings over the years, but it was my passion and delight. This is what I feel called to do. To whom much is given much will be required. This is me giving back.
If you are in the enviable position of being able to comfortably pay more for my support, I will gladly receive it. Paying what feels fair to you is a valuable mental and spiritual exercise. But that is a suggestion for you. If I needed more money I would request it explicitly.
Success in the counseling relationship is dependent upon trust between client and practitioner. Without safety, nothing can change. I offer a free 30 minute consultation, and I invite you to trust your intuition to find the right person to accompany on your journey and the struggles you are facing. I have found incredible help among eclectic, unlicensed coaches and spiritual guides. The primary advantage is the integrated approach of mind, body, and spirit.
I hope you will reach out and begin the conversation. But more importantly, I hope you find exactly what you need to move forward in health and balance.
